USPA NEWS - French President Macron of the Republic will meet on Tuesday June 29 with women business leaders around a working breakfast in the presence of Ms Elisabeth Moreno, Minister Delegate to the Prime Minister, in charge of Equality between women and men, Diversity and Equal Opportunities, Ms Elisabeth Borne, Minister of Labor , Employment and Integration, Mr. Jean-Michel Blanquer, Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports and Ms. Sarah ElHairy, Secretary of State in charge of Youth and 'Commitment. The Generation Equality Forum is a global movement for gender equality, convened by UN Women and co-hosted by the governments of Mexico and France.    The Forum brings together governments, corporations, NGOs, youth-led groups and Foundations to secure concrete, ambitious, and transformative commitments for gender equality. These are shaped by the Action Coalitions. They are the world’s roadmap for gender equality. COVID-19 has exposed and accelerated existing gender inequalities. The impact on women and girls has been severe and disproportionate. As we begin to recover from the pandemic, we must put gender equality at the heart of that process.

AS PART OF THE CHOOSE FRANCE SUMMIT & AHEAD OF THE WOMEN U.N’S GENERATION EQUALITY FORUM PDT MACRON MEETS BUSINESSWOMEN As part of the Choose France Summit and ahead of the Generation Equality Forum which will be held in Paris from June 30 to July 2. On this occasion, the head of State will discuss with business leaders around two themes at the heart of equality between women and men and business commitment: - ISSUES around professional equality (equal pay, opportunities for women to access the highest responsibilities, companies' commitment to promote equality between women and men) - THE MOBILISATION of female CEOs as mentors and mentoring ambassadors as part of the mentoring plan initiated by the President of the Republic as part of the national policy in favor of equal opportunities and youth. Among the actions carried out within the framework of the great cause of the five-year term, a strong economic dimension is integrated into strategies for gender equality, in addition to the priority given to the fight against violence. Professional inequalities can also be linked to the scourge of violence, which often affects the economic dependence of women, in terms of salary but also of access to less qualified jobs (twice as many women are on fixed-term contracts than men and more women are part-time than men).

SINCE THE G7 BIARRITZ ‘ COMMITMENTS SOME MEASURES HAVE BEEN IMPLEMENTED ------------------------- Since 2017, several advances have already been made in favor of professional equality, some of which follow the commitments made at the G7 in Biarritz on the basis of objectives that had been set by the heads of state and Government in 2019 and prepared in conjunction with a coalition of institutional, economic and civil society actors:------------------------------ - iIMPLEMENTATION of an obligation of results in terms of equal pay since 2019, via an obligation of transparency and rating that may give rise to sanctions in the event of no progress (Improvements exist in particular in large groups ( increases after returning from maternity leave, pay differentials), with the notable exception of the place of women in the top 10 salaries) - PROMOTE the reconciliation of life time, by taking care not to lock women into their role of mothers requiring a specially adapted schedule through the adoption of the new paternity leave of one month including one mandatory week, which will come into force on 1st of July -BREAK THE GLASS CEILING that remains for women's access to the highest responsibilities: By imposing quotas 10 years after the adoption of the Cope-Zimmermann law, which made it possible to increase the proportion of women on the boards of 10% to 45%, quotas for women in COMEX and senior executives (30% in 5 years and 40% in 8 years), via MP Rixain's bill. » Source: Elysee
