The defense of the Infanta Cristina de Borbon, sister of the King of Spain, Philip VI, asked Tuesday the Court to judge the 'case Noos' for several corporate crimes and crimes against public finances, the acquittal of his client and requested that punish the union Clean Hands for accusing her.
The lawyer of the Infanta, Pau Molins, presented his findings and asked the Court to acquit his client, against which there is no evidence that he committed any crime, he said, and because he returned the money allegedly used illegally. He also asked that the union Clean Hands, which holds the private prosecution and is the only thing keeping the charge against the Infanta, for asking for a sentence of eight years in prison, to pay Court costs for accusing order the Infanta when there is no criminal case against her. It also requested an order that the union "for having acted with serious recklessness, abuse of law and procedural bad faith" to accuse her.
While lawyer of the Infanta Cristina presented his closing argument, in Madrid the head of the defense of the King's sister, Miquel Roca, was appearing in another Court to testify about the alleged blackmail was aimed at the defense by the union Clean Hands. The union is under judicial investigation for several alleged offenses of blackmail and coercion. The judge must decide at the end of the trial whether expels the union from the case.
At the trial held in the Provincial Court of Palma de Mallorca, the capital of the Balearic Islands, the husband of the Infanta, former international handball player Inaki Urdangarin, also requested the acquittal of the crimes of which he is accused and could land he in jail for up to 19 years. Meanwhile, former president of the regional Government of the Balearic Islands and former Spanish Minister of Environment Jaume Matas, admitted two counts of misappropriation of public funds and fraud to management and requested a sentence of seven months in prison replaceable a fine. Following the arguments of the defense, the trial enters its final phase. Infanta Cristina de Borbon and his husband will only have to return to Court again to hear the sentence.
